I think it makes an effective counterargument in that it eschews all sense of narrative coherence and character identification in favor of presenting one eye popping, spectacular vision after another. <br /><br />Not that I've seen his enough of filmography to make too much of a judgment, but I agree with you that Felini was usually a little weaker in dealing with story, character development, etc, and that NIGHTS OF CABIRIA is one of the few films that's an unqualified triumph in that department. So SATRYICON sort of posits the idea that maybe he should have stayed away from traditional storytelling altogether and just let his visual imagination run wild.
